Who is the qualification for? If you want to work as a swimming teacher then this is the course for you, whether you want to teach group lessons or 121s, whether it’s children, teenagers or adults this course covers everything you need. Once completed you will be able to plan and deliver your own swimming lessons. Venue Liverpool Aquatics Centre Wavertree Sports Park Wellington Rd Liverpool L15 4LE Dates This course is being delivered in a blended format meaning that you will begin your course with an online session via Zoom on day 1, followed by 4 hours of e-learning on day 2, then 2 full days in person on day 3 & 4. This same format will then repeat the following week. Week 1 Thursday 22nd May from 5pm till 9pm (Online) Friday 23rd May anytime (4 hours e-learning) Saturday 24th May from 8am till 4pm (In person) Sunday 25th May from 8am till 4pm (In person) Week 2 Thursday 29th May from 5pm till 9pm (Online) Friday 30th May anytime (4 hours e-learning) Saturday 31st May from 8am till 4pm (In person) Sunday 1st Jun from 8am till 4pm (In person) Cost £685 per learner Content You will learn about: The role and responsibilities of a Swimming Teacher The role in promoting aquatics How to plan overviews and swimming lesson plans for a range of ability groups How teach safe, inclusive and effective swimming lessons to a range of ability groups The influence of scientific principles on a participant in the water How to meet the needs of participants How to assess participants at the correct level How to demonstrate lesson management skills How to supervise and instruct a Swimming Assistant How to develop participants Core Aquatic Skills (CAS) How to develop participants swimming strokes How to demonstrate effective communication skills How to evaluate your own performance How to plan for professional development By the end of this course, you will be able to effectively plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate swimming lessons independently. It also gives you the skills and confidence to provide quality, inclusive and fun swimming lessons. Entry Requirements You must be 16 years of age or older on the first day of the course Hold a SEQ level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) certificate or Swim England/ASA equivalent Assessment Theoretical Questions Overviews Lesson plans Observation Self-Evaluation Professional Development Plan This qualification is not graded. You will either pass or fail.
